dot  1-Hour Historical Walking Tour
Come with me on a 1-hour historical tour of Lisburn city centre, which seats the local administrative offices. Lisburn has a rich and varied history including being the birthplace of the Irish linen industry, which was established in 1668 by Louis Crommelin and other Huguenots.

The ’Lis’ element in Lisburn derives from Lisnagarvy, a townland incorporated in the modern city and whose name is from the Irish Lios na g Cearrbhach, meaning fort of the gamesters or gamblers.

Route of Tour:

  • Statue of Brigadier General John
  • Market Square (Wallace Fountain)
  • Irish Linen Centre
  • Castle Building
  • Railway Station (Bachelor’s walk)
  • French Church
